Family of David, Solomon, Jeconiah

The chronicles continues with the family of David and his many sons from his many wives, not counting those from his concubines. Solomon, the son whom the LORD has chosen to succeed David was quite far down the line in terms of birth order compared to his half brothers. Absalom who grabbed the throne from David, was in fact the third son by birth.

While the chronicles of David's family focused on the breadth of the family tree, that is listing his many sons; the chronicles of Solomon's family focused vertically through his descendants who were kings of Judah. from Rehoboam the first king of the split nation of Judah to the last king Zedekiah.

The next group of family chronicled was from the line of Jeconiah, the second last King of Judah. He would be the same as Jehoiachin, the king taken captive to Babylon, but later honoured by having a permanent seat at the table of the king of Babylon. The ability to trace the line of Jeconiah is evident that the royal line of Judah has been preserved.
